Scroll Shlokas Privacy Policy

Updated October 6, 2026

Overview

Scroll Shlokas is provided by Ankur Gupta LLC, based in the United States. The app is an offline Bhagavad Gita reader. This notice covers the app and its subscription features. An active subscription or eligible trial is required to enter the app. Contact us at me@ankgupta.com.

Reading and private notes

Your canonical reading position, read shlokas, favorites, bookmark, reading days and private notes are stored on your device. The app does not send private notes, search text or reading history to our servers or RevenueCat. Your device backup settings may include app data in backups controlled by Apple.

Widgets and local events

Hourly, daily and favorite-shloka widgets display text bundled in the app. The app shares favorite shloka IDs, language and the red-text preference locally with its own widget extension. Current widgets do not record reading confirmations. Legacy confirmations from an earlier version may be imported once into local reading state and removed after successful storage. Obsolete reading-progress widget summaries are removed on update. Private notes are not placed in the shared widget container. A bounded local event log records feature actions and shloka IDs on your device; it is not sent to an analytics service.

App usage analytics

PostHog receives Gita-specific feature events to help us understand onboarding drop-off, plan selection, purchase outcomes and reading-feature use. Events include a randomly generated installation identifier, session and basic app/device information, language, onboarding step and selected plan. Feature actions are associated with that installation across sessions. We do not send note text, search text, shloka IDs, verse text or your canonical reading history to PostHog. We do not connect this identifier to RevenueCat purchase identity, your name or email, another app’s installation identity, advertising IDs, or third-party advertising data. Screen recordings, automatic element capture and remote crash capture are disabled.

Usage analytics is off by default. There is no consent screen during onboarding. You can enable “Share usage data” in Settings and turn it off again at any time without affecting reading or subscription access. The app stores the latest setting, date, notice version, notice text and language locally. Older builds collected analytics by default; upgrading to this version keeps collection off until you enable it in Settings. Turning collection off stops new events and resets the installation identifier. PostHog processes analytics in its United States service. Previously sent events remain subject to provider retention; contact me@ankgupta.com for requests. An anonymous installation identifier may not be enough for us to locate a record without additional information that you choose to provide.

Optional local reminders

Streak reminders are off until you enable them in Settings and allow notifications. Your chosen time and reading days stay on this device. The app schedules local notifications and removes today’s reminder after reading in the app. No notification token or reading history is uploaded for reminders. You can turn reminders off in the app or Apple notification settings.

Subscription purchases

RevenueCat receives purchase history, transaction and product information, an anonymous app-specific purchase identifier, and platform information needed to validate purchases and provide subscription access. RevenueCat also uses purchase data for its dashboard analytics. We do not give RevenueCat your name, email, private notes, searches or reading history. Apple processes App Store payments under its own terms.

Network and correspondence

Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog and website hosting providers may process network requests and associated technical information to deliver their services. If you contact support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send. Include only what is needed to answer your request.

Advertising and website analytics

The app has no advertising identifier collection or advertising integrations. These support pages use the website’s existing optional analytics, which remain disabled until you accept the website consent banner. Declining keeps the pages usable. The website privacy policy explains those choices.

Retention and deletion

Delete individual notes in the app. Removing the app’s data removes its local reading state; operating-system backups may retain earlier copies under your backup settings. Purchase records may remain with Apple and RevenueCat for entitlement verification, fraud prevention and required recordkeeping. We retain support correspondence only as reasonably needed to resolve requests and meet applicable obligations.

Your choices and requests

No app account is required. An active subscription or eligible trial is required for app access. You can manage or cancel it through Apple. Notes and reading state remain stored on your device when access ends; access resumes after a valid purchase or restore. For privacy access, correction or deletion requests relating to information we control, contact me@ankgupta.com. We may need enough information to verify and locate a purchase or support record. Applicable rights depend on where you live.

International processing and audience

Purchase, analytics and support providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate. Scroll Shlokas is a general-audience reading app and is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information to us.
